FAQs …
Below are some common questions we get asked but if the info you’re after isn’t here, don’t hesitate to get in touch … we love talking travel!
What
insurance
do I need?
We strongly recommend all travellers take out travel insurance … but all insurance is not the same. Here are some questions for you to answer to help decide what policy best meets your needs:
Does your policy have a 24-hour emergency assistance number to call? Is the emergency team in-house?
What is the excess? Do remember it applies to EACH ITEM CLAIMED, not just to the total claim?
Is it worth paying a bit more to reduce excess to zero? Are you all covered if you split and travel separately?
If you have the option of credit card insurance, do you know what the activation requirement is?
If you book a side-tour while away, will you be covered? Will your travel companions be covered or only the primary cardholder? Are travel arrangements paid for in cash (not by the credit card) as part of the trip covered by the card insurance?Does the policy cover lost/stolen money? What is the excess?
Is there an age limit on the policy?
What is the maximum length of travel time you will be covered?
What coverage do you receive should you have to cancel your trip? Does coverage vary by the reason for cancellation … it’s too soon to forget COVID-19!
Are you covered for the financial failure of an operator?
What vaccinations are needed?
That really depends where you’re going! But regardless, given we’re not health professionals, we’re not is a position to give expert advice. We suggest a two-step process:
CLICK HERE to visit the MASTA website, punch in the countries you’re visiting and read the information that appears as it’s helpfully presented in categories of vaccinations that are compulsory, recommended or to be considered. Now you’re wised-up , move onto the next step …
Visit your GP armed with the MASTA information and talk about what’s best for you. It can be a really expensive business so being well-informed is important.
And do keep in mind that it can be a good idea to keep up with the more regular immunisations not just associated with travel to foreign parts - measles, tetanus, even flu. Check with your GP what’s right for you.
Can I get help with visas?
Sure can! Visas can be a bit of a changeable feast so the situation needs to be reviewed for each destination closer to the time. We’ll get well across the requirements and assist with your application. Timing and means of application vary from country to country so it’s a matter of being up to date with the latest info. What do I have to pay when?
Typically, there are three part-payments required:
A non-refundable deposit of $250 to secure the booking
A progress payment of $2000 at the time we book flights. If you’re upgrading to business class, you will need to pay the $2000 plus the surcharge for the upgrade.
Final payment is due 75 days prior to departure.
Sometimes an additional payment may be required for a special part of a tour. Cruises are an example of this - they often require their own separate deposit and earlier payment than our ground operators. If there is going to be additional instalments, we’ll let you know when you book and include details in your confirmation notice.
